The trumpets began to sound, Old Joshua shouted glory

I sat down in a rush this morning to read a quick chapter in Philippians before I ran off to work. If you know me you know that I hate to rush my quiet time. But after hours of meaningless boredom this evening I found myself back in this green chair reading as the world kept on moving outside of this room.

I've been reading Numbers and I can honestly say it is not my favorite book in the Bible, but today I was blessed in a mighty by the Lords words and His truth. I came across this passage.

"The sons of Aaron, the priests, are to blow the trumpets. This is to be a lasting ordinance for you and the generations to come. When you go into battle in your own land against an enemy who is oppressing you, sound a blast on the trumpets. Then you will be remembered by the LORD your God and rescued from your enemies.

Everyday my beautiful family and I face a battle in our "own land". We fight against the enemy as He fights for the life of my brother. We rise in the morning with as much hope as we can muster and before we sleep we are found on our faces begging God to give him rest. To give us rest.
This evening I was reminded that Gods people have fought with the sound of a trumpet. They would sound a blast before each battle and as the Lord inspired a tradition to take place, their faith in Him would be heard in all the land.

In Exodus 19 it speaks of Moses bringing the people before the Lord and before they went they would sound a trumpet.

On the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning, with a thick cloud over the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blast. Everyone in the camp trembled. Then Moses led the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain.

In Nehemiah as the people set their minds on rebuilding a wall they were told
this late in the night...

"Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, join us there. Our God will fight for us!"

And then in Revelations as John watches angels gather around our King he describes what he saw.

"And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpets."

According to Revelations at the sound of these trumpets plagues would be sent and wrath would take place...and then in chapter 11 it tells us this...

The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said:
"The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ,
and he will reign for ever and ever." And the twenty-four elders, who were seated on their thrones before God, fell on their faces and worshiped God.

I am humbled by all of these moments of worship.By Gods deliverance and faithfulness. And His consistence. And now as I go back to the beautiful book of Numbers I find this passage right after the last

Also at your times of rejoicing—your appointed feasts and New Moon festivals—you are to sound the trumpets over your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, and they will be a memorial for you before your God. I am the LORD your God."

...So I know this has been long and drawn-out, but I felt the Lord revealing to me that I need to go before Him with a trumpet... ready to fight, ready to worship and ready to fall on my face before an Almighty God that knows what it's like to fight in His own land. A God that knows what it's like to be oppressed and a God thats knows what it is like to rescue at the sound of His peoples cry.

That is the God I worship tonight and the one I delight in. It is the God my brother will return to and the One that is faithful to hear me.

"For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the TRUMPET call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words."

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

I loved what you wrote.
I never realized that trumpets were used throughout the Bible as a tradition that the Lord set up.
That is amazing.
I would hate to be the one fighting on the other side and hear that trumpet sound.

Isn't it amazing that when our Father comes to take us home, he is going to call us with a trumpet.
Its like a signal that THE biggest and final battle is underway.
That is so powerful!

Nicole, you brother will be in the clouds with us.
He is going to find redemption and when we are in Heaven you will be able to look to your left and see him on his face before the Lord worshipping with you. It will be the most beautiful sight.

THAT is why we are here on earth. To bring glory to our Father. To find our way back to Him and help others on their journey as well.

Carl will turn around
Carl will find peace
Carl will be reunited with the truth
Carl will fall back in love with his first love
